HALLE13 is pleased to present a unique performance by Maximilian Gruber, known as King B, as he performs his debut six track mix-tape, "Kaizaschnitt". Following the staged release of the free mixtape in the week proceeding the event. This intimate experience is slated for 23/06 at 8:00 PM and is estimated to last for about 25 minutes.
King B's inaugural mix-tape is a pointed exploration of contemporary identity, sexuality, and politics. By creatively appropriating and remixing iconic beats from American hip-hop and intertwining them with incisive Austrian German lyrics, he crafts a distinctive narrative that navigates the peculiarities of Austrian politics, contemporary identity issues, gender, and sexuality. As a unique and peculiar cultural form in and of itself this mixtape operates as a refractive lens, revealing the emergence of a novel, hybridized global identity - an evolving, aesthetically skewed, world where disparate cultural norms, critical perspectives, and aesthetic tropes are borrowed, reworked, and redeployed to create peculiar, unique hybrid cultural artifacts.
Staged in the week immediately following Vienna Pride, this performance embodies HALLE13's continued commitment to championing and staging diverse voices that diverge or operate beyond the mainstream discourse, irrespective of medium. King B's audacious, even iconoclastic, experimentation—his repackaging of classic hip-hop and grounding it within a uniquely contemporary Austrian context—echoes this commitment. This first intimate soft-launch and performance of "Kaizaschnitt" marks the initial steps of King B's fledgling artistic journey. We extend a warm invitation to friends and family of the gallery to experience this unique event with us. The evening promises a personal narrative shaped by King B's idiosyncratic musical exploration, fostering a surreal space for shared experience and connection. We look forward to sharing this unusual evening with you.
