CANEMORTO - The Radiant Van

The infamous CANEMORTO trio comes to HALLE13 to present The Radiant Van - the world's most powerful good-luck device. Alongside critic and curator Antonio Grulli, the three anonymous Italian artists will share the final outcomes of the project: a book published by Bruno and a short film directed by Marco Proserpio, with music by Matteo Pansana.
CANEMORTO is an anonymous trio of Italian artists active since 2007. They wear masks, speak an unknown language, and worship a canine deity called Txakurra, who grants them the power to paint as one. The trio spread the message of this mysterious cult through "six-handed" projects across diverse media.
For this project, the trio transformed a classic work van into a moving magic lantern - The Radiant Van. Its sides are engraved with 18 universal symbols drawn from the tradition of white magic, turning the vehicle into a mobile talisman that radiates a concentration of auspicious, apotropaic energies wherever it travels.
The Radiant Van stems from the curatorial vision of Antonio Grulli, who has directed Luci d'Artista since its 26th edition and invited CANEMORTO to create a new light artwork. The project is made possible thanks to the support of the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, within the framework of the Italian Council program (14th edition, 2025), aimed at the international promotion of Italian contemporary art.
